"An enchanting dry white Bordeaux, that moves with orchestral grace. It’s very young, fresh and lithe at the moment, and will repay patience with more depth if you can bear to put it away for a year or two." The Guardian Weekend UK (Rating 4 star)

2005 Les Allees has good colour; a bright fresh pungeant nose of rich plums, some earth, and blind, I thought it had some nice Margaux suppleness (it is just outside Margaux). My notes say - rich, juicy, supple, engaging, balanced, long. Bravo Les Allees.

"From a classed-growth property in the southern Médoc, this has delightful, violety aromas, supple tannins and sweet, ripe fruit, not jammy as it's encased in a gentle framework of velvety tannins. Oak is well-judged. This is relatively soft for the vintage, with a degree of finesse.' Wine International

'Bright red-ruby. Black cherry, liquorice and nutty oak aromas. Broad, ripe and dry; in a softer style but with good fullness. This coats the mouth on the finish, which features broad, dusty tannins.' Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar

"Sociando Mallet's big, extracted, rich, classic 2004 boasts a deep ruby/purple hue as well as aromas of charcoal, wet stones, cold steel, and abundant black currant and cassis fruit. This medium to full-bodied, structured, powerful wine will benefit from 4-5 years of cellaring. It should last for two decades." Robert Parker

"Abundant amounts of liquorice, smoke, herbs, cherries, and currants emerge from this deep ruby/purple-tinged, full-bodied, up-front, flamboyant 2002. It relies more on fruit and terroir than new oak to seduce the taster. It is undeniably a sleeper of the vintage." Robert Parker

"A dark ruby/purple colour and a bouquet of plums, black raspberries, liquorice, roasted herbs, and incense are followed by a medium to full-bodied, rich, structured, backward wine. Lafon Rochet remains under-priced for the quality of wines it is producing." Robert Parker

"An early tasting - the powerful spicy 1998 is still a battleground between sweet fruit and firm tannins, but this is a wine with force and presence, and I suspect the fruit will win in time." Stephen Brook
