91 Beautiful aromas of spices, berries and plums follow through to a medium- to full-bodied palate, with very fine tannins and a pretty, delicious finish. All in finesse. Best after 2008. 9,165 cases made. –JS
Ripe blackcurrant and cassis nose. Wonderful silky texture with great elegance and poise. Very long. Drink up to 2016. (MH)
94 A huge, powerful, dense wine, which layers pure black fruits over dusty tannins. This is an impressive wine, proof of Rauzan-Ségla’s improvements since Chanel took over ownership. It is packed with fruits, like an intense jelly, but also has dryness, acidity and good aging potential. — R.V. (6/1/2005) Wine Enthusiast
90 Ripe, oaky nose, lean and elegant. Rich, full-bodied but not extracted, stylish, long, and should develop well. World of Fine Wine magazine
89  Notes of new saddle leather, dried Provencal herbs, and a hint of lavender jump from the glass of this deep ruby/purple-tinged Margaux. The complex aromatics are followed by a sweet attack, but some narrowing on the mid-palate and finish is apparent. Pure and elegant, it is ideal for near term drinking. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2015.

"In 1855 Rauzan-Segla was considered Bordeaux’s best wine after the 1st growths.
A dismal 1960s, 1970s but then a complete turn around in the 1980’s saw this estate produce a string of superb wines. It now sits at the head of the class of fourteen 2nd growths. This is splendid wine and worth buying as prices have not yet caught up with the new level of quality of this famous old estate." Robert Parker

"This is one of the oldest and most famous cru in Margaux, but its wines for some years failed to match their high reputation. The 1982 marked the beginning of substantial improvement, with the ‘85 even better. The ’86, ’88, ’89 and ’90 vintages have proved to be outstanding, challenging Palmer’s reputation as the best wine in the appellation after Margaux."
David Peppercorn, Master of Wine
