Robert Parker ~ 88-90 Points

"La Dauphine is making a lot of positive noises recently, and the 2008 exhibits a lush, sweet black currant and black cherry fruitiness intermingled with notions of crushed rocks and an underlying floral note. Supple tannins and a lush, round, medium to full-bodied style suggest this alluring Fronsac should offer delicious drinking for a decade or more."

2008 VINTAGE

90

A blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc; two of my favourite things. Mint, toasted coconut and almond friand, coffee, black cherry, earth, graphite, some blossom notes- aromatically curious, but not at all unattractive. Then it’s full steam ahead with a medium to full bodied palate offering good extract and ripe tannic grip, fresh acidity and mixed berry fruit. It’s quite plush and concentrated -certainly no weedy acidic Fronsac here – and delivers a plenty of drinking satisfaction.

88-90 Another sleeper of the vintage, La Dauphine is making a lot of positive noises recently, and the 2008 exhibits a lush, sweet black currant and black cherry fruitiness intermingled with notions of crushed rocks and an underlying floral note. Supple tannins and a lush, round, medium to full-bodied style suggest this alluring Fronsac should offer delicious drinking for a decade or more.
89 A really tangy style, with mouthwatering tapenade and tobacco notes leading the way for red currant, pomegranate and damson plum fruit, all backed by a note of roasted apple wood. Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
Lovely intensity of fruit. Charm and elegance with a firm but fine tannic frame. Drink 2012-2018. (16 points)

"On the slopes running down to the Dordogne, this eyecatching property makes some of Fronsac's most polished wines, but they never lose their characteristics, alsmost metallic, mineral streak."  - Oz Clarke "Radical Bordeaux - Oz Clarkes Best value Discoveries" - Decanter Magazine
