"At its best, Canon is a splendidly rich, deep and concentrated wine, muscular and full-bodied and when mature, richly fruity, cedary and often magnificient. It remains a mystery why this wine is not better known, because Canon has certainly been one of the top three or four St-Emilions during the decade of the 1980s..."

18 /20 | This has a lovely, seductive, svelte nose of plummy fruit presented in a ripe, dark, velvety manner, complicated by notes of pepper and spice. Finely-structured palate, with a delightful undercurrent of velutinous tannins, and a precise balance of flavour, texture and acidity. Very elegantly styled, with undeniable finesse. Truly excellent. I think this has shown very good positive development over the last year. |

91 | A closed, firm, mineral-laden effort, this medium-bodied, concentrated, backward St-Émilion possesses a dense ruby/purple colour as well as a sweet nose of black fruits and liquefied stone aromas. It has excellent texture and considerable persistence. This may ultimately turn out to be as good as the 2000. |
