The vineyards of Sainte-Colombe can be traced back to Gallo-Roman times.
The vineyards of Sainte-Colombe can be traced back to Gallo-Roman times.
The first written references to the vineyard at "Picoron" date back to the early 18th century. In 2015, the château was bought by Glenda and Franck Kalyk, an Australian couple who are passionate about wine and France.
The 2015 vintage enjoyed a warm, dry summer, providing excellent ripening conditions for the grapes. The autumn period was also dry and quite hot.
The Château Picoron vineyard stands on calcareous clay soil in the commune of Sainte-Colombe. It uses sustainable vineyard management practices to preserve ecosystem integrity.
Château Tasting | Garnet colour with a hint of vermillion. Very fresh nose dominated by liquorice with a hint of star anise. Subtle hints of vanilla. A full-bodied, fleshy attack on the palate with silky, mellow tannins coming through. Long finish with quite a fresh aftertaste. | |

91 | There’s a boldness here that really appeals. This smells of ripe dark berries, plums, and dark chocolate. The palate has round, fleshy presence, while the tannins cradle the finish neatly. Best from 2020. |
